Lamayuru Padum Trek

Days 01: Drive Leh – Alchi – Lamayuru. (126 km )
Today you drive on Leh-Srinagar highway. After breakfast drive to Lamayuru (126km and 4hrs drive). En-route visit Alchi village (68km) and monastery. It was built by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (The great translator) 1000 years ago and is considered to be the largest among the entire monastery built by him. After the visit, proceed to Lamayuru still 58km. Arrive Lamayuru and visit the monastery. This monastery was constructed by Arahat Nimagung in between 10th and 11th century. History says that in the 11th century, the Mahasidha Naropa visited this place and the cave where he resided and meditated is still to be seen inside the monastery. Overnight at camp in Lamayuru.
Days 02: Trek Lamayuru – Prinkitila (3900m) - Wanla – Tarchit (5 hrs)
Right, from the camp, down in the ravine passing the houses and the fields of village. This route will take you to the Prinkitila Pass (3900m). From the pass wonderful view of surrounding mountains, follow the gorge until you reach at Shillakong valley. Follow the road towards left. From this point, you see the Wanla monastery. Continue along the road up to Wanla. Visit Wanla Monastery then continue trek further 2km ahead to Tarchit. Good and beautiful campsite near the river. (3300m)
Days 03: Trek Tarchit – Phanjila – Hanupatta (6 hrs)
From Tarchit, you will have nice walk up to Fanjila village by following the left bank of the river, At Phanjila village we will have two gorges, one goes to Zanskar and another goes to the left which leads towards Urtsi village. You take right hand side. Cross the river on a small bridge towards right then from here follow the route along the motor-road to the right of the river. From this point, Hanupatta village is still about 4 to 5 hours trek. Pass the village of Hanupatta and about 1 km ahead is the camping site on the other side of the river. Overnight at camp. (3750m)
Days 04: Trek Hanupatta – Sirisir-la (4805m) – Photoksar (7 hrs)
Start trek early from Hanupatta camp. Cross the river and follow the trek upstream along the right side. From here the pass of Sirsir-la (4805m) is about 3 to 4 hours. Cross the Tang River and start to ascend the pass along the left side. For lunch, it should be planned to cross the Sirsirla, because, it is not advisable to ascend the pass after having lunch. The camp at Photoksar is before the village and can be put either side of the small river. Overnight at camp. (4210m)
Days 05: Trek Photoksar – Boumitse-la (4200m) – Base of Singey-la (7 hrs)
Today you cross easy pass. Right from the camp, while enjoying the spectacular landscape, start ascend for few meters and continue along with clear and well define path. Carry on ascending up towards the top of Boumiktse-la. From the top of the pass, you directly see the Singela Pass and enchanting panoramic view of rolling plateau and mountains. Until the base of Singe-la, you cross few small streams so it is advised to carry extra shoes in your bag so that you may not get wet. Good campsite with beautiful and wonderful view. Overnight camp. (4400m)
Days 06: Trek Base of Singe-la – Singe-la (4960m) – Kyukpa-la (3850m) – Skyumpatta.
Right from the camp, start ascending up to top of Singe-la. It is easy to ascend but 1200m before the top, it is steep ascend in zigzag. From the pass, the route descends steeply to a loose boulder strewn area. This is called Champado Gongma. Continue along the right side of the valley, clear path up to village Skyumpatta. Beautiful and awesome view of landscape of the valley. Follow the beaten track to the Kyukpa-la Pass (3850m), easy ascend. Easy descend from the pass about 300m and cross a clear water stream. Camp near of above the stream. Overnight: Camp at Skyumphatta village. (4000m)
Days 07: Trek Skyumpatta – Lingshed – Hanamu-la Base (7 ½ hrs)
From Skyumpatta follow the trail and start ascending the Netuksila pass. It is a long ascent and it is advisable to carry adequate amount of water as we'll get water at camp only after that. From the pass again follow the well-defined route to Lingshed. Visit the Lingshet monastery which is very interesting with the old statues. Lingshed monastery is constructed on the top of hill by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (the translator). The deity can be viewed once in a year 15th day of 4th Tibetan month. After visit Lingshed, continue towards the Hanamu-la Base by crossing the small bridge. Pass the village by ascending along the right side. Overnight at camp. (4000m)
Days 08: Trek Hanamu-La Base – Hanamu-La (4700m) – Zingchen (7 ½ hrs.)
Morning after breakfast, continue trek climbing the pass right from the camp. The pass looks difficult and steep but slowly and steadily along the zigzag path it seems easy. While following and enjoying the panoramic view of landscape and wonderful mountain, you arrive at the top of the pass. From the top of the pass, enjoy spectacular and enthralling view of landscape. Cross the pass and easy and gentle descend till you reach at Zingchen. Overnight Camp. (3410m)
Days 09: Zingchen – Parfila (3900m) – Hanamur village (6 hrs)
Morning after breakfast, continue trek along the upstream of the river up to the Stupa from where you gently climb up to the Parfila pass. Cross the pass and gently descend down. From this point you see the magnificent and enchanting view of Landscape and view of the Zanskar River on left side below. The camp is, about more than one hours ahead, in the tree grove of Hanamur village. Overnight at camp. (3410m)
Days 10: Trek Hanamur –Zangla (6-7 hrs)
As usual after breakfast, continue trek along the bank of left side of the Zanskar till village Pidmo. Enroute you pass by few small villages like Pidmo and on the opposite side is village Zangla.The camp at Pishu is below the village on the grassy meadow near the bank of the Zanskar River. Overnight at camp (3430m)
Day 11: Drive Zangla – Karsha monastery – Stongde monastery– Padum
Today you have full day culture tour around Padum by drive. Morning after breakfast, drive to Stongde village. Visit beautiful picturesque monastery built on hill top by Lama Marpa 950 years ago. Approximately 60 monks are residing in this monastery. After the visit, continue drive to Karsha (Pair of White i.e., Outer white and Inner white). Visit Karsha monastery. This monastery is the largest of all the monastery in Zanskar and this monastery (Gonpa) was first founded by Great Lama Phagspa Shesrap (the translator of Zanskar). From the monastery, you have amazing and spectacular view of the capital of Zanskar (Padum) and its surrounding mountains. After the visit explore Padum (The capital of Zanskar). Overnight in Padum. (3590m)
